Finding & Using Patterns in My Work

As I mentioned in my About Me, thanks to my radiation treatment, my brain has a bit of a processing problem. Especially when it comes to learning & using new ideas or techniques. Since getting serious about my art in 2020, I've realised how much my brain is drawn to patterns.

At times seeing accidental patterns in my work. At other times, actually drawn to working with pre-made (quilt or embroidery patterns & maps especially), pre-imagined patterns & the patterns in nature. They give me a great deal of comfort in while creating, as well as giving me an element in calm from my anxiety.

In the beginning, I thought that was a bit like cheating, but that's BS. Artists use all sorts of tools. So lately I've started seeking out patterns in a variety of places to expand my tool kit. I'll make an updated post from time to time to share what I find.

Cheers,
